Adobe Photoshop Express comes to Windows Phone finally

Adobe launched Photoshop Express for Windows Phone this week, finally bringing its popular image-editing app to the platform. Windows Phone has been racking up the apps regularly these days as it makes a claim in the smartphone OS race. The app launches five years after the iOS version came out and it's been three years since an Android app has existed.

 

The WP version will have the same in-app purchase model seen in the iOS and Android versions of Photoshop Express; basic editing features will be available for free, making the app more accessible, while the more advanced effects are hidden behind paywalls. 

 

Small adjustments include cropping, rotating and removing red eye etc while one could also control brightness, contrast, exposure, sharpness and other elements. It's basically like any other photo editing app in the market, though on Windows Phone, users do not have as many choices as their Android and iOS counterparts. That could result in a high absorption rate for the app and that's not even accounting for the Photoshop brand name.

 

With Windows Phone hitting many more markets at lower price points, things are looking bright for Adobe on the Windows Phone front. The in-app purchases are a bit like VSCO filters, a few are available for free, while others can be bought through the app. Cloud sharing is possible through Adobe Revel, OneNote, Dropbox and other third-party apps.

காணாமல் போன CD Driveஐ கணினியில் திரும்ப கொண்டுவருவது எப்படி?

 

1. முதலில் Device Managerல் CD டிரைவ் இயல்பு நிலையில் இருக்கிறதா என்று பாருங்கள். Devise Manager செல்ல desktopல் உள்ள my computer ஐகானை வலது கிளிக் செய்து manage மெனுவை கிளிக் செய்யவும். அதில் இடதுபக்கமுள்ள பகுதியில் Devise Manager என்பதை கிளிக் செய்தால் வலது பக்கம் நமது கணினியில் பொருத்தப்பட்டுள்ள கருவிகளின் பட்டியல் தெரியும். அதில் CD/DVD Rom devices என்பது enable ஆக உள்ளதா என பார்க்க வேண்டும்.

2. உங்கள் கணினியின் CPUவில் CD/DVD டிரைவை இணைக்கும் cable சரியாக உள்ளதா என சரிபார்க்கவும்.

3. மேற்கண்டவை சரியாக இருந்தும் கணினியில் CD டிரைவ் தெரியவில்லை என்றால் Registerல் ஒரு மாற்றம் செய்வதன் மூலம் காணாமல் போன CD டிரைவை மீட்கலாம்.

Start->Run சென்று regedit என்று type செய்து எண்டர் செய்யவும். இப்போது கணினியின் Registry Editor திறக்கப்படும். பின்னர் கீழ் உள்ள keyஐ கண்டுபிடிக்கவும். நீங்கள் தேர்வு செய்த Key சரியானது தானா என்பதை உறுதி செய்ய அதன் வலதுபக்கம் CD/DVD டிரைவ் எனக் குறிப்பிடப்பட்டிருக்கும்.

Google To Buy Skybox For $500 Million

Internet search provider Google has entered into an agreement to buy satellite maker Skybox for USD 500 million in cash. The deal is expected to make the search engine giant to serve as a launching pad to send its own satellite to take aerial pictures and provide online access to remote areas of the world. Skybox's satellites will help keep Google Maps accurate with up-to-date imagery, the Silicon Valley-based company said in a statement yesterday. "Over time, we also hope that Skybox's team and technology will be able to help improve Internet access and disaster relief - areas Google has long been interested in," it said. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including the receipt of regulatory approvals in the US, Google said. Making the announcement, Skybox said the deal is not complete yet. "Five years ago, we began the Skybox journey to revolutionise access to information about the changes happening across the surface of the Earth. "We've made great strides in the pursuit of that vision," it said. We've built and launched the world's smallest high-resolution imaging satellite, which collects beautiful and useful images and video every day. "We have built an incredible team and empowered them to push the state-of-the-art in imaging to new heights. "The time is right to join a company who can challenge us to think even bigger and bolder, and who can support us in accelerating our ambitious vision," it said. Skybox and Google, the statement said, believe in making information (especially accurate geospatial information) accessible and useful. AICTE Launches Job Portal

In a bid to ensure that students in non-metros are not left out of the race to lucrative jobs, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has launched a job portal linking students and companies. Designed for educational institutions in Tier-II and Tier-III cities, the portal allows students/companies to access and upload the profiles of each other. Depending on the vacancy and suitability of the candidates, the companies would invite them to online tests followed by personal interview. Some college placement officers say the AICTE had announced this initiative in 2012. The portal will cover over seven million candidates across the country. S. Mohamed Tajudeen, Director of Placement in B.S. Abdur Rahman University, says the initiative by the AICTE has come when there are already several independent job portals functioning in the country. According to him, colleges in cities, which have access to a good number of companies, recruit students through campus recruitments or off-campus programmes. "We are trying to check if companies such as TCS and Cognizant will also join the portal. Such companies conduct online tests for more than one lakh students at one go and recruit candidates as per their requirements," Mr. Tajudeen said. The job portal will be a boon to students in Tier-II and Tier-III cities, where recruiters hardly visit, said an industry source. The portal, being the first-of-its-kind initiative, would encounter stiff competition once it got popularised. For instance Anna University, which has a dedicated placement cell, involves all colleges affiliated to it to participate in placement programmes. In the year-long process, the university officials collaborate with the affiliated colleges and the industry on a regular basis. P. Ananthakrishnan, placement officer at Sri Krishna Engineering College, which is one of the institutions that has access to the portal, says: "Usually we organise campus placements by coordinating with companies. Now, the AICTE will offer details of students online and the companies will directly call them.we are not sure how successful this exercise will be. We have just started."

BSNL users can now access Facebook on mobile without internet

State-run BSNL today launched a service wherein its mobile customers will be able to access Facebook without any Internet or data connectivity.

BSNL users will be charged Rs 4, Rs 10 and Rs 20 for 3 days, weekly and monthly plans, respectively, the company said in a statement.

The public sector telecom firm has tied up with U2opia Mobile to provide Facebook access through USSD in East and South zones immediately and shortly the service will be launched in West and North zones.

Unstructured supplementary service data (USSD) technology is used by telecom operators to send alerts to their users. It can be used for pre-paid call-back service, location-based content services and menu-based information services.

BSNL said Facebook for USSD enables users to access their accounts, view/post status messages, respond to friend requests, write on friends' walls, view birthday reminders and send messages without any Internet or data connection.

"Companies today are looking at enhancing the portfolio of offerings to voice and SMS customers and we are really excited to offer Facebook on USSD, given the rising popularity of social media," BSNL Director Anupam Shrivastava said.

The service would work on all kinds of handsets.

"These services are perfect for our always-connected customers who want to stay in touch with their Facebook friends – anytime, anywhere, on any mobile," said U2opoia Mobile CEO Sumesh Menon.
